An introduction to Yin & Yang yoga, suitable for all levels of students. This afternoon workshop will focus on a balance of Yin & Yang yoga.
Classes will include Pranayama (breathwork), Asanas (postures), and we will close our session together with guided relaxation Yoga Nidra (deep relaxation).
Yin Yoga focuses on gently stretching the connective tissue, ligaments and joints which are not normally exercised in more active styles of yoga which focus on stretching muscles (Yang Yoga). The fundamental characteristic of Yin Yoga is holding postures for several minutes to target connective tissue. Postures are floor based focusing on the lower body, hips and spine. A Yin practice beautifully complements a Yang practice and Yang lifestyle.
Yang Yoga consists of dynamic flowing Hatha postures to warm the body and some postures are held to build & tone muscle strength, stamina and flexibility. Challenging variations will be offered for intermediate students. Yang postures are a mixture of standing and floor postures.
The workshop will help you to relax, still the mind, re-energise and de-stress. Take time out to balance your mind, body and spirit.
